OUR STORY
Thirty-five years. One mother-daughter duo. A kitchen table sketch that became living proof of a life well-carried. This is the story of HOBO.
1975
It all started with the love of leather
My earliest memories are of leather scraps under the craft bench, in the '70s shop where my mom, Toni Ray, learned her trade. She taught me where everything begins. With the hide, the hand, and the belief that things we carry get richer as we live.
1991
After twenty years building legendary leather shops, Toni Ray starts over. With the last of her savings and a belief that quality and cool never go out of style, HOBO is born. She chooses the name to celebrate the legendary spirit of the American hobo. The one who followed their own path. Read the signs, not the map. Lived by a code of hard work and kindness, always seeking the next adventure.
The first HOBO collection was designed on the dining room table
We sketched the first HOBO bags on the dining room table, in my mom Toni's home in Annapolis, Maryland. Those sketches became a collection of natural leather bags, made in a small family factory in Bogotá, Colombia. What started as my mom’s craft became our life’s work.

The Lauren Clutch-Wallet
The original kiss-lock wallet-clutch, made to hold it all and carry you through the day with confidence and style. Lauren quickly earned her place: Collector status, and a spot in the hearts of more than 1.5 million women.

Flagship store in Annapolis
We put down roots in Annapolis, opening our first flagship in the heart of our hometown. And then we hit the road. Mobile HOBO takes the bags out into the world, built for discovery and everyday adventure.

HOBO GO
After thirty-plus years in leather, we made something new. HOBO GO. A line of nylon bags for the go-getters. Packing cubes, slings, weekenders, built for the kind of life that’s perpetually in motion.

A New Home on Main Street
Our Annapolis story continues, a few steps up the road. After years on Green Street, we moved into a new flagship on Main Street, in the heart of the city we've always called our own. Same spirit. Same community. Same belief in real connections.

Thirty-five years. Thousands of bags, softened by thousands of lives. The scuffs. The patina. The stories worn in. That's the proof of a life well-lived.
