Hobo X Nashville: A 12 South Travel Guide
It’s true…Hobo is headed to Nashville! The Hobo Leather Lounge hits the road next month, setting up shop at White’s Mercantile in 12 South the weekend of April 5th-7th. Shop leather and hang with us as we celebrate our spring Modern Day Hobo campaign, featuring some of Nashville’s coolest creatives. To get to know our crew, check out our video gallery.
"Nashville is a city that has stayed true to its roots for decades and one that is overflowing with folks we like to call Modern Day Hobos. See for yourself..." - Koren Ray
To plan for the Leather Lounge, we spent some time in the city that we love, getting to know the local spots and spending time with some amazing people that call Nashville home. We hung out in 12 South a good bit since that is where we are putting down temporary roots in a few weeks. The charming area quickly became our favorite place to be from coffee at Frothy Monkey, to vintage shopping at Savant, ice cream at Jeni’s and so much more.
Below you will find a mini travel guide to Nashville for what to do in 12 South. Of course, if you visit the first weekend of April, the #HoboLeatherLounge must be number one on the list!
1. Coffee at Frothy Monkey
Coffee lover? Frothy Monkey must be your first stop. There very well could be a line out the door, but we promise it is worth every moment. If you are like us and end up wanting their coffee every morning at home, grab a bag of Frothy Monkey coffee beans from our Makers Market. Also, check out their guide to pour over coffee to learn how to do it their way.
2. Browsing at White’s Mercantile
Founded and owned by Holly Williams , White’s Mercantile is a must-shop for cool, unique, quality goods, handpicked by Holly herself and inspired by favorite things she has discovered while on the road as a musician. As Holly says herself, White’s is a "general store for the modern-day tastemaker." The vintage exterior of a refurbished gas station sparks nostalgia to an old general store, so you know you are about to enter an Americana atmosphere that is like no other. You could browse for hours, lost in the displays of leather-bound journals, plaid shirts, denim jackets, cookbooks, throws, hats and so much more. It was within moments of being there that we knew we had to chat with Holly about Hobo coming to town for the weekend and laying down temporary roots at White’s.
3. Sweet Treat at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream
You MUST (and we repeat, MUST) pick up an ice cream cone at Jeni’s. Hobo’s Creative Manager and PR Specialist aren’t even huge sweet tooth people, and this was seriously a magical experience for them… it’s that good! The smell of waffle cones wafts out the door, physically pulling people into the store and causing a long line. Just practice patience and the line will move, we promise. We highly recommend the gooey butter cake flavor and, of course, on a waffle cone.
4. Fresh Blooms at Amelia’s Flower Truck
Flower fans, rejoice. Your bloom dreams are about to come true! Amelia’s Flower Truck is pretty hard to miss, as it is the cutest vintage truck with a back full of beautiful blooms. With your ice cream cone in-hand, stop by Amelia’s and the founder, Mattie (who is a Hobo fan herself!), will help you curate your selection of flowers and wrap them up in brown paper tied with string.
5. Vintage Shopping at Savant
From vintage concert tees to perfectly worn-in denim, well-loved leather boots, flowy dresses, vintage leather belts, and a Navajo jewelry collection that is like no other, Savant Vintage is a dream destination for ‘70s loving souls with an appreciation for vintage treasures. We can’t forget the epic vintage rugs, too. They were so great that we had to drop our Breezy crossbody down for an Instagram moment.
Plus, the shop owner and vintage curator, Beverly, is as cool as they get! She will be the stylish one behind the counter, most likely with a vintage cowboy hat on.
Thanks for reading and we hope you make plans to visit Nashville soon! Or, if you live there, come visit us in April @ White’s Mercantile. Hope to see you there!
